The Golden State Warriors, NBA and RISE hosted a community conversation on Thursday, Oct. 26, including athletes, law enforcement and community leaders designed to strengthen relationships and create positive change in Oakland. Players from the Warriors, as well as Oakland Mayor, Police Chief, police officers, school officials and high school students participated in Leadership Together at the Rakuten Performance Center (Warriors’ practice facility) in Oakland, California. Participants broke into three groups for discussions covering the topics of Strengthening Our Communities, Mentoring & Leadership and Sidelining Racism before coming together to reflect on their discussions and discuss strategies for moving forward. Among participants were Warriors David West and Draymond Green, who also is a member of the RISE Advisory Board; NBA Cares Ambassador Jason Collins; actor, rapper, singer and Oakland native Daveed Diggs; and Oakland Mayor Libby Schaaf.
